Take Part in a Living Tradition

Thai people love their baskets. They are a daily part of life. Beautiful and practical, you'll see them used in the fields during planting and harvest, for storing food and displaying wares, for bringing alms to the temple, and for shopping, among many other uses.

Come see how the basket making tradition is still very much alive in this region of Kamphaeng Phet, which boasts a rich mix of different styles and influences.  Northern people from the Chiang Mai region, Issan people from the northeast, and ethnic hill tribe peoples from the mountains to the west all produce unique creations.

All the artists are eager to keep their traditions alive by sharing their skills and passing their knowledge along to you!

There are no central production facilities so we'll go out into the villages and sit with the artists initially, and then invite them back to the comfortable surroundings of our garden retreat for further coaching as you create your own works of art.

Non-basket weavers will have just as much or more fun than the basket weavers! After dropping off the BW's  at their workshop, the NBW's will embark on their own guided adventures throughout the region, accompanied by our fun-loving staff.
