When Is The Best Time To Come?
It's always warm here, but the winter months in Thailand are reliably cool in the mornings and free of rain. December, January, and February are the most popular months.

It starts heating up in March, with the Songkran water festival in April marking the peak of the heat. The ensuing rainy season during the summer months is actually a wonderful time to visit. Afternoon thundershowers during the heat of the day are welcome and it dries up quickly.

When Should I Arrive?

Double check your air ticket before clicking "purchase" so you arrive on time!

Plan on an arrival no later than 9 am the morning of the first day to BKK airport. Many flights land late at night, so you may need to arrive one calendar day before the first day of your chosen session. For example, if your package date begins on the 12th, leave the USA or Europe on the 10th, arrive on the 11th, and get whisked away on the 12th). We can help you arrange an airport hotel if necessary.

The shuttle to Total Thai Adventures has one pickup location and leaves by 10 am on the first day of your adventure. We will pick you up either from the Bangkok Airport or a hotel where the whole group agrees to meet.

Ground transportation to and from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport  or your hotel in Bangkok is included in your all-inclusive package on the first and last days only. You will be responsible for the cost of your own ground transportation if traveling on different days, times, or to a different airport. A taxi to the resort from Bangkok airport is approximately $120 USD and can be arranged upon request.

Inexpensive round-trip fares can be found from Hong Kong (HKG) on Air Asia, among other carriers. Visit Kayak.com or similar website for a full list of flight options based on price from other destinations.

Do I Need a Visa?
There's no need to obtain a visa in advance to enter the Kingdom of Thailand. Just come with your passport. 30 day visas are granted at Thailand Customs and Border Control upon arrival.

While you're on the plane, you can fill out your arrival card with the address where you'll be staying: 47 moo 19 Khlong Nam Lai, Kamphaeng Phet.

You do not need a visa to enter the Kingdom. Fll in your arrival card with the Total Thai Adventure address: 47 moo 19 Khlong Nam Lai, Kamphaeng Phet, 62180. It's good to write down our contact phone too: 080-456-9284.

What Extras Am I Responsible For?

Guests are responsible for paying their own airfare to Thailand, gratuities, and off-site purchases.  Single rooms are also available for a supplemental charge of 500 USD, however please inquire in advance for availability by contacting us in advance. If you don't plan on bringing your own bicycle and don't wish to use one of the basic bikes we already have, we can procure an appropriately sized mountain or road bike for an additional fee. Contact us for details. Gratuities are not expected but certainly appreciated by our Thai staff.

Can I Stay Longer?

Extended stays are always possible and are pro-rated base on the package cost.  Please contact us for more information.

Can I Arrange a Shorter Trip?

Although we are happy to arrange shorter adventures, we truly believe that 7 or 9 days is the perfect trip length. Count on one day for travel and getting settled on the front end, 7 full days of adventures to new destinations, and then one day to pack up and travel onward. If you can't make it the whole time, we can pro-rate your stay with an additional transportation supplement for the leg you can't travel with the group.

What's The Shopping Like?

There's a wide variety of  things to buy, from local handicrafts and traditional clothes to  inexpensive electronics and and gold jewelry. We will have a chance to visit local artisans who produce fine embroidery,  traditional hill-tribe clothing, silver jewelry, hand-loomed sarongs and wraps, and fine basketry. You may find a traditional Thai treat you love, like rice crispy treats with peanuts, sesame seeds, and coconut that can be brought home. In the big city you'll find items carved out of teak, as well as more modern clothing  and electronics.

What Should I Bring?

Please bring a helmet, or borrow one of ours.

Bring walking shoes, sandals, and a swimsuit. Flip-flops made from genuine Thai rubber can be purchased locally.

There's no need to bring anything formal, but do bring workout clothing. Performance fabrics are ideal since they wash and dry easily and don't stay soaked when you perspire. For women, a shirt that covers the shoulders is preferable for any temple visits, but we have sarongs to borrow in case. With daily laundry service there's no need to bring many clothes, since you'll likely never reach the bottom of your bag.  Leave plenty of room in your big bag to haul back new clothes and souvenirs!

Don't fret about the details. Our village has many close-by shops where you can pick up any sundry item you like, need or may have forgotten.

The plugs and current are USA and European compatible, so there's no need to bring any special adapters for your devices, except hair dryers.  We have those.

Don't forget your passport. 30 day visas are granted at Thailand Customs and Border Control after getting off the plane and before picking up luggage. Bring your favorite mosquito repellent, otherwise it can be purchased locally. Take along your ATM and/or VISA debit card, which can be used at the airport upon arrival to pull out Thai baht spending money, or near the resort at one of the ATM machines in Khlong Nam Lai town.

How Much Money Should I Bring?
Take along your ATM and/or VISA debit card, which can be used at the airport upon arrival to pull out Thai baht spending money, or near the resort at one of the ATM machines in Khlong Nam Lai town. It costs approximately 5USD to withdraw funds, no matter what the amount, so you might want to take out the maximum. I you aren't able to spend it all, we are happy to buy back your extra Thai baht if necessary.

What's the Food Like?

About the best you've ever tasted! We aim to please your individual palate, and any special dietary requests are cheerfully prepared. Every meal also has a vegetarian and/or vegan selection too. Don't worry, after eight years we've got this down.

We tone down our Thai food according to how you like it and leave spicy condiments off to the side, but if you want it totally Thai, then game on!

Conversely, a selection of breads, omelettes, pasta dishes, cereals, fruits, nuts, and yogurts is also available, so you can always change it up if you choose.

The kitchen staff will never let you go hungry. "Eat more!" is a familiar refrain you'll hear from them.

Do I need Vaccinations?

Unless you aren't already up to date for something in your own country, there's no need for any shots.  This area has no malaria, so there's no need to take anti-malaria medication. There are private health clinics and public hospitals that will gladly help with any problems. Forget medication or run out? Chances are the local pharmacy can help without all the rigmarole or cost associated with back home.

Is the Water Safe?

The water here for showering and brushing teeth is treated city water (chlorinated), and although it's potable, you may prefer the bottled drinking water we also provide.

What Are Medical Services Like?

Modern health care at a reasonable cost is readily available. A clinic with a western trained, English speaking doctor is close, as is excellent urgent medical care at the nearby hospitals in Khlong Nam Lai and Kamphaeng Phet.

Should I Plan Onward Travel After My Adventure?

We can always help you plan more adventures after your stay with us, such as an elephant tour or simply a few days at the beach. Generally we don't recommend activities where you'll be with other tourists and treated as such. Some guests have needed to find out for themselves and report back that they wish they had just stayed a few extra days with us!

To Which Airport Should I Book My Flight?

Plan on an arrival to BKK airport no later than 9 am the morning of the first day, if possible. Many flights, such as Delta airlines, arrive late in the night, so arrange your flight to come in the night before Day 1 of your chosen session (one calendar day in advance -- for example, if your package date begins on the 12th, leave the USA or Europe on the 10th, arrive on the 11th around midnight, and get whisked away on the 12th) .

When you arrive, you can fill in your arrival card with the address where you'll be staying: 47 moo 19 Khlong Nam Lai, (Khlong Lan, Kamphaeng Phet, 62180). The first part not in parenthesis will suffice for the immigration authorities.

Ground transportation to and from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport is included in your all-inclusive package on the first and last days of your package trip only.  Inexpensive round-trip fares can be found from Hong Kong (HKG) on Air Asia, among other carriers. Visit Kayak.com for a full list of flight options based on price.

The van to the resort leaves after midnight on Day 1 and returns to the airport on the last day by noon. You will be responsible for the cost of your own ground transportation if traveling on different days, times, or to a different airport. A taxi to the resort from Bangkok airport is approximately $120 USD and can be arranged upon request.

What If I Need To Work While I'm There?

We have high speed internet on site and you can stay connected at all times! There are many indoor and outdoor locations where you can create your vacation office, and data plans are available for purchase at the airport upon arrival for when you're off-site and need to stay connected.

What is Your Cancellation Policy?

Reservations that are canceled 30 days prior to arrival will receive a refund of 75%. Your forfeited amount may be applied towards a future session. You may transfer your reservation to another person without forfeit of payment.  No money will be refunded if canceled within 30 days, though special exceptions can be made on a case by case basis.  If you are concerned about losing your full payment, you may want to purchase trip cancellation insurance.
